Why do you workout?

I could write up a list as long as my arm why people choose to workout.  And I’m sure that almost everyone who reads this will have a different reason.

So, what is yours?  Have you even thought about it .. I mean, really thought about it?  Do you fit into one of these …

Health

Fitness

Because you are told that you should

Look good .. in clothes, naked …

Keep up with the kids

Feel good

Eat more food

Enjoy it

Because you can

Specific goal

What I’m getting at here is that your reason to do workout should be all about you!  If you find someone to workout with, who is exercising for the same reason as you, then you are lucky to have found a great training partner!

Your reason to workout might change from one week to the next, one month to the next, or one year to the next.  I’m no different.  In the past I have set myself goals, such as run a half marathon.  Yes, I’ve done this quite a few times … I enjoy running so it makes it a bit easier to commit to my training.  But at the moment, I’ve decided to take a break from running.  I still enjoy it but my reason for exercising at the moment are my health and fitness.  No specific goals ( which may or may not be playing with my mind .. I’m not sure! ).

Ultimately, what I am trying to say, is that you should work out for yourself … not anyone else!

If you are not getting what you want from your exercise program or you are just not loving it, it’s possible that you are exercising for someone else’s reasons and need to reassess exactly why you want to exercise!  Once you find that reason, your workout might just become that bit more enjoyable!
