The first month of winter is done! I don’t do winter very well. Eating well, exercising regularly seem to just not happen as often. I would much prefer to curl up in a ball until the days get longer and at least a little bit warmer!
Speaking of warmer, how hard is it to get out of bed in the cold and dark?! Even in the middle of the day, it’s hard to take enough layers off to exercise!!
That leads me to another scary thought, while we don’t particularly feel like doing much exercise or eating those delicious healthy salads, what is going to happen when we do have to whip those layers off as the weather gets warmer? Those comfort foods that we are devouring right now and all those missed opportunities to exercise might be leading to a few extra kilos in a few months. At a time when we have to take layers off and we want to look lean and sexy for summer dresses!
Now is the time for us to keep up our healthy eating and exercise routines so that we don’t have to fight so hard to shed the winter kilos! Work hard now and show off that hard work in summer!
I know, it’s really not something that you want to think about right now, because it seems so far away, but it will be here before you know it! It’s time to start making a plan and work towards that summer body that you want … What goal do you have for your healthy summer body? What dress do you want to wear this summer, what bathing suit do you want show off on the beach? Or do you have a fitness goal … run 5km by summer … do push ups on your toes .. be more active in general? Do you just want to feel comfortable and confident in your own skin?
There is still 2 months of winter left … plenty of time to start work and start to see the results!
While it’s important to keep your number one goal in mind … let’s take it a month at a time. Break it down and it might just seem more reachable. What would you like to achieve this month? Take a small step, make a small change .. something that fits easily into your routine. It could be cutting out sugar and processed foods and replacing them with fresh fruit and veg, maybe cut back on fizzy drinks … I guarantee that you will feel so much better just with this change that you will want to keep going. What about a strength session to your usual weekly routine, especially if you don’t do much weight training .. this is where you will start to see changes to your body shape, and you will feel stronger too! Whatever it is, commit to the change … it will absolutely be worth it!
Your turn. Find a notebook, write down your goals or share them with me and we can keep each other accountable. Look at and read your goals each day, remember what you are working towards! Then, go out and make them happen!
