To snack or not to snack … Do you snack or have morning tea or afternoon tea .. or a little meal in between your breakfast, lunch and dinner? Why? Because someone said you should eat 5 – 6 meals a day? OK, cool, it’s up to you! I’m not here to tell you when to snack or why to snack, I’m here to share with you My 5 Favourite Snacks! Yep, talking about food! One of my favourite past times, other than eating food!
I’m not really a same thing every day kinda person .. I like to change it up a bit sometimes. But there are a couple of snack preferences that I have on regular rotation. Here they are .. are any of your favourites on the list?
My Top 5 Favourite Snacks
Apple with Peanut Butter or Cottage Cheese An old favourite combination that not everyone will take to. Have you tried it with Almond Butter? It takes it to a whole new level .. that reminds me, I might buy some more almond butter. Now apple paired with cottage cheese is probably not for everyone, as I hear someone gag over the cottage cheese … for me it works! I chop an apple up and add a few tablespoons of cottage cheese. Carbs and protein in one hit. Pre or post workout this is an option!
Berries with Natural Yoghurt Is there anything better than fresh berries and a spoonful or two of Greek Yoghurt. A much
better option than that sugar filled flavoured yoghurt. My preference when it comes to berries are raspberries and blueberries, and of course a full fat delicious Greek Yoghurt ( no I don’t do low fat, I won’t be eating a whole tub ). This is also a yum sweet dessert if you feel you need one after dinner.
Chopped Carrots / Beans with Hommus While this one does require a little prep w
hen you chop up the veg, everyone can do with a few extra veg in their day! A little crunch can definitely satisfy a craving or hunger.
Fruit and a handful of nuts For me this is always the best snack that you can grab and go! Apples are my favourite and a handful of nuts to go with it adds a little protein and some good fats. Apparently bananas are a good option too, but I don’t eat them ( OK, so I can be fussy about ONE food! ) and the thought of that getting squashed in the bottom of my bag .. ick. I also love apples for a quick pick me up after a tough run or workout, the natural sugars hit the spot!
Boiled Eggs Perfect protein snack that you can have prepped and ready to go. Boil a few up at the beginning of the week and keep them in a fridge. A great option for a post workout snack if you next meal won’t be for a little while.
