Winter is not kind to my skin.  Between the heating, the cold and the wind my skin has been so dry and dehydrated.  I’m not going to mention that I don’t think getting older is helping either … I was in a bit of a desperate state a few weeks back and my skin was so dehydrated I felt like it was so tight that it would just tear if I poked at it even just a little bit.  I was trying all my little tricks which did help but I finally conceded that I needed to call in the big guns.  I headed over to Facial Co, who are my local skin care lovelies ( seriously, they are just down the road from me 😉 ) to see what would be the best things I could do to get my skin back to normal and keep it that way until all this cold weather has gone.  This is what they suggested that I use, and I love it and it did help rectify my dry, dehydrated skin!

Anyway, I asked if they would mind putting together some information so that I could share it with you, because I’m sure I’m not alone … am I?

Winter Skin Care Tips

These tips have been provided to me by the team at Facial Co and include the products that they recommend for each issue.  I have included links to the products they have suggested in case you would like to have a look further.

**I have not been provided with any compensation by writing this or including this on my website .. I just thought I would share my experience.

As we near the end of winter, you may be experiencing some of the negative effects that cold weather can have on your skin.  With a host of factors, including heated environments and cold air contributing to dehydration, this results in a tight, flaky, dry, irritated or dull complexion.  Following some simple skin care tips can help you counteract the winter blues and keep your skin looking and feeling its best.Ascent Health & Fitness

Cooler weather weakens the skin’s natural balance and protective lipid barrier, so avoid intensive cleansing and opt for a gentle but rich and creamy cleanser during the winter months.

1   Clarins Extra-Comfort Cleansing Cream

2   Trilogy Very Gentle Cleansing Cream

To avoid a dry, dull and flaky complexion this winter, it’s important to slough away dead skin cells and maintain smooth skin by exfoliating once a week, which will also brighten and improve the tone.

3   asap daily exfoliating facial scrub

4   emerginC Micro-scrub

Ramp up the hydration by switching your usual moisturiser for a richer, more nourishing formula that will create a protective barrier on the skin to protect against the elements and retain moisture.

5   Thalgo Hydra Marine 24h Cream Ascent Health & Fitness

6   Payot Hydra24 Creme

Tame a ruddy winter complexion by seeking out a serum that reduces redness and alleviates blotchiness.

7   SkinCeuticals Redness Neutralizer

8   Hydropeptide Soothing Repair Redness Relief Serum

To prevent chapped winter lips, it’s important to try not to lick your lips, but also try keeping a nourishing lip balm in your purse and apply it regularly throughout the day.

9    Lanolips 101 Ointment

10  Burt’s Bees Nourishing Lip Balm with Mango Butter

So there you have it, some tips from the skincare experts.  The only one that I would like to add is that to stay hydrated you need to be drinking lots of water.  It’s harder in winter, but it’s just as necessary, especially to keep our skin looking fresh and fabulous.
